According to the report of Shopify, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) brought about changes to lifestyle and consumer spending habits. The COVID-19 crisis is accelerating an expansion of e-commerce towards new firms, customers, and types of products, likely involving a long-term shift of E-commerce transactions from luxury goods and services to everyday necessities.

The pandemic has also amplified the consumer’s increasing desire for convenience, immediacy, and simplicity.

What you should do at this time to unlock the future of E-commerce with an innovative digital experience?

Make the purchasing process fast and easy

First, make sure that your customers can do business with you wherever they like. Connecting the online and offline world allows customers to choose where they shop. So it is important for you to capitalize on their desire for speed and convenience.

The checkout process is really critical, especially for customers who are still hesitating. The faster and easier you make it to check out, the more money you can make. You can allow customers to save their payment and shipping information, automate promotions and shipping costs and eliminate the add-to-cart step by allowing customers to buy directly from product pages. As I have written in my blog that Amazon’s one-click ordering brings them huge profits.

Provide consumers with a rich shopping experience with technology

Augmented reality technology simulates the personal shopping experience on the Internet by allowing customers to see what the product looks like at their home. With augmented reality technology, customers only need to click on a product, and they will immediately see it covering wherever they point. Helping customers to better understand the size, scale, and details of the product can increase conversion rates.

“Augmented reality for larger items, especially home goods, becomes increasingly more relevant in the future. Retailers need to get creative to reduce returns because returns can destroy a business.”

— Jordan Knapp, Shopify Plus’head of new markets.

Livestreaming E-commerce is experiencing explosive growth in China, livestreaming E-commerce is promoting and selling goods through influencer streams on their own social media channels, most often housed in online shopping malls. Customers can interact with influencers and ask questions about the product, then click on items for purchase.
